Fellowship Hall Work Completed! With the installation of carpet tiles, renovation work on the Fellowship Hall was completed in mid-July and dedicated on July 30 after the worship service. I am happy to report that the project came in on time and under budget. With these savings, we were able to put the original lighting design concepts– that were removed due to cost concerns–back into the plan. On May 20, over 400 clergy and lay leaders of the Pacific Northwest Conference (ELCA) gathered at Salem Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon for the annual Synod Assembly. The theme of this year’s assembly was RISE. Representing Our Redeemer’s were: PastorsKathy Hawks and Gretchen Mertes, Terrence Rindler, Paul Oldenkamp, and Shelbe and Chauntae Kukowski. The Year in Review Over the past twelve months, we have seen a great deal of progress on our Vision-Aligned Building (VAB) project. Clarice Swanson (former member of Our Redeemer’s, daughter-in-law of Carolyn Swanson) will present through pictures and songs her experience spending 90 days in Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand. In her words, “Learn how jumping off bridges, encountering endangered ethnic cultures, recording traditional ethnic music in rice field, and water coloring with orphans is shaping her future…” She will also perform songs inspired by this trip. Everyone is welcome.
