GROW and the Ballard P-Patch have secured their bridge loan financing, allowing them to close on the purchase of the Ballard P-Patch property at the end of August. This milestone ensures that the property will continue to be used as a community garden and allows Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church to fund much needed safety and functional upgrades to better serve the community.

Up to now, Our Redeemer’s has leased the land for to Ballard P-Patch for $1 a year. According to Pastor Kathy Hawks, “The P-Patch, along with the whole community of Ballard, rallied their energy, connections, and relationships to make this happen, despite the pandemic. This sale is a testament to what can happen when good people work together with a common purpose.”

Construction of the church renovation is scheduled to begin in early October and is expected to take about 10-months to complete.
