Our service of on the crucifixion of Christ reflects on the tradition of Tenebrae (Shadows). In this service of darkness and candlelight, we keep watch and hear of his passion and death through Scripture, silence, and singing. This moving service is a special and well-loved tradition at Our Redeemer’s.

The liturgy starts with foot-washing, followed by communion and the stripping of the altar. This is an interactive service remembering the last supper of Jesus and his disciples before his crucifixion.
Beginning outside the sanctuary with joyful palms raised and acclamations, we will process in, moved by Christ’s coming as God’s holy messiah. We celebrate this high point in light of his following crucifixion and death, and follow this humble king within his disciples from joy and elation, to sorrow and bewilderment. In-person & Online The 11:00 am service is liturgy deeply rooted in the Lutheran tradition of God’s living word. Join together in prayer, familiar hymns and communion at God’s all-welcoming table. We wish one another peace and blessings and leave the service more connected, challenged, and hopeful than before.
