Renew

Reflect. Recharge. Grow.

Transformative spirituality: find your place apart.

Time and space apart from life’s busy routine can be restorative gifts to the soul. Big or small, tranquil or energizing, experienced in solitude or with others, these “teachable moments” help us open our eyes to God’s work in the world and in our everyday lives. It is in these moments that God’s grace transforms us.

Find your place apart on a peaceful weekend retreat, in an act of service, in lively group discussion or during an hour of reflection in our sanctuary. Through many different expressions of spirituality—study, prayer, music, nature, stillness or human connection—we explore new perspectives and find our way towards wholeness and a more fully lived life.

Our community is a safe place to explore spirituality in the way that is right for you. Whatever your questions, experiences and beliefs, you are welcome to find your own transformative moment at Our Redeemer’s.

We also invite you to browse our calendar or contact us for detailed information about our many upcoming events. Read on below to learn more about the many opportunities and ways to explore your spirituality at Our Redeemer’s.

Women’s Retreat

Time away to relax, listen and learn.

Breathe in deeply, close your eyes and imagine yourself at the Hood Canal. Our Women’s Retreat is an opportunity to take in the beauty of nature—the scent of pine, the sparkling water and the evenings just chilly enough for you to welcome the roaring campfire. Unplug, renew and laugh with other women as we share wonderful meals, stunning views and thought-provoking discussion. Enjoy a massage, a walk, a kayak trip or whatever activity feeds your soul.

We gather at the lovely St. Andrew’s House in Hood Canal for an annual weekend retreat filled with nature and good company. Each year we focus on a different topic and invite a special speaker to help us think and learn.

For more information on our Women’s Retreat, contact Allison or check out the calendar.

Men's Retreat

Lectio Divina

Listening for words unspoken.

Second Sunday of the month, 7:15-8:00 p.m

Enjoy a prayerful reading of the Gospel for the coming week followed by open and honest group discussion. Based on an ancient practice, Lectio Divina invites us to engage with Biblical text by reflecting on personal questions: “What word or phrase sticks out to me?” “What truth is God speaking to me?” “What action might God be calling me to take this week?”

Come once, once in a while or every month to join us in a ritual that helps us find center and calm. Get in touch with Margaret Wetter to learn more about Lectio Divina, or visit our calendar for detailed information on our next gathering.

The Journey

Walking together.

The Journey, a six-week process that takes place every year during Lent, is open to individuals of all backgrounds, interests and spiritual journeys. Whether you are exploring your faith, getting to know our congregation better or joining Our Redeemer’s as an official member, The Journey is a meaningful way to grow in spirit and in community.

During The Journey you can ask questions, connect with others, learn about the Lutheran faith and experience what life at Our Redeemer’s is all about. We’re heavy on hors d’oeuvres, honesty, small-group Bible study and an authentic, unforced sense of community. There is never any pressure join our congregation or to be baptized. If you are interested in taking those steps, however, The Journey is the way to get started.

To learn more about The Journey, contact Pastor Kathy any time.

Centering Prayer

Weekly on Fridays during Lent, a small group of folks with gather in the sanctuary for 30 minutes of centering prayer. This is a time to be still, quiet, and let God speak into your spirit.

Centering Prayer is from 5:30-6:00pm in the Sanctuary. 10 minutes of quiet music followed by 20 minutes of silence offers the space for you to simply BE.

Simple supper to follow.

You can come for 30 minutes and still make your Friday night plans! Or stay longer for fellowship and food. Check out the calendar for exact dates this year.

Compline

Begin the new week with reflection and joy.

Second Sunday of the month (October through June) at 8:00pm

Enter a dim and quiet space for a half hour of calm worship in our sanctuary. Based on a service that originated in the 6th century, Compline acknowledges the completion of the day with reflection, silence and spiritual peace. Often featuring guest musical groups, this service is a wonderful way to conclude the Sabbath and welcome the coming week. All are invited to join us after Compline to share light refreshments and meaningful conversation in the adjoining library.

Join us in rest and renewal.
